Fantastic trip and experience
We had a great time. The cruising was great with great villages along the way.
Boat had all the facilities that were needed and easy to handle. Only frustration was find a vacant berth to dock for the evening if cruising late in the afternoon.
I would like to qualify this - the service from the South African branch was outstanding.The service from the office at Trebes was also excellent. However, our gas bottles were not filled leaving us stranded at 9.30pm on our fourth night half way through cooking a meal. This resulted in us having to eat dinner at the one and only restaurant in Paradza at a cost of Euro 200 for the 2 families. The Homps guys were amazing and ensured that the bottles were replaced early the next morning. When I discussed this with the agent at Narbonne, he agreed to take euro 100 off our diesel bill. I, however, remain uncertain whether he actually did deduct the money or pretended to deduct the money. Our engine time seemed rather excessive.

Very bad reception at Homps as argument with older woman on reception about a taxi they booked for us which was not at the airport to meet us so we took another that was more expensive and she was very rude and said we would have to pay anyway, which was not the welcome we expected at the start of an expensive holiday. The other lady seem to have no knowledge of the items eg wifi etc that we had booked and paid for so I had to produce my invoice. We were told about two weeks before that our Vision 4 was not available so we were to be upgraded to Vision 4 SL this did not happen. Also no hairdryer onboard as promised and three woman unable to do hair for a week. The reception at Port Cassafiers was wonderful. So helpful and friendly, could not have been more pleasant.
A bit tired in places and a few more dishes and pans in the kitchen but generally fine.
The best part of our trip to France was the cruise along the Seille and Saone Rivers... very relaxing and great way to see the "real" France at a slow pace. Most memorable experience??? Saving Angelique... a trumpet swan that had fishing lure caught in her mouth and on her neck preventing her from drinking or eating. We managed, as a team effort, to corner her so that we could catch her and try to remove the lure. Because of the barbs in the lure and the lack of appropriate tools, we carried her (all 25 lbs of her) to a vet, who removed the lure, massaged her throat, gave her an antibiotic injection and was kind enough to treat her at no charge. We nursed Angelique overnight and freed her the next morning as she seemed to have regained her strength. Apparently, word got around Seurre as we were asked by a store owner "if we were the people who saved the swan"!
We experienced a minor mechanical problem which was brought to the attention of the local staff. A number of other minor recommendations have also been made to Head Office. Nothing earth-shattering - just a few suggestions such as having a squeegee and some chamois on hand, towel bars...
